Sold- My Kenmore Range

My range was sold today via craigslist - the couple paid cash and hauled it away.

Funny thing - I listed that downed oak tree again for sale and got a response from someone who wanted it. I was excited!  But.... the next email was that he lived in Michigan and would overnight a money order.. what? Seriously this is about 1000 pounds of oak tree... and you think I am that stupid? I told him that I want to paid by PayPal and that was the last I heard of him.

Part of the prep work for selling my Moraga house is to remove all the black appliances and put in stainless steel ones. Even though my black appliances are high quality and fairly new, I still have to replace them.

I have listed my range for sale on craigslist today.. if anyone is interested in buying it please email me. I am asking $250.00.

Jan 12th 2013 - short cold visit

I took a quick trip up to the house to make sure everything is okay with the cold we have been having, last thing I need is a broken pipe and more water damage. I got there on Friday night and the temp inside the house was in the 40's which tells you how cold it has been. I had to turn on the furnace and start the wood stove to get the temperature up to something liveable. The next morning, I got up and looked at my wireless temperature gauge to see how cold it was, and the darn thing was dead! According to the news it got into the "teens" and it killed the batteries.
I have a bunch of oranges on the trees and there is the garlic still so when it warmed up enough I went out to water them and see how things were going. They are still hanging in there and I picked a bucket of them to bring to work.

The ground was actually frozen, not frost on top but the water in the ground was frozen so when you walked it crunched! Very strange sound.. I have a couple of pictures from that trip, not many because it was short and too dang cold!
Garlic is doing well! It seems to laugh at the cold!

Frost on a california poppy plant - save this to your pc and enlarge it for more detail.

Frost on the grass
This weekend I am going to my parent's house to get my haircut - and the following couple of weekends will be working on the Moraga house. I have new appliances coming, new sink for the wet bar and hopefully find someone to fix my kitchen window without it costing me a fortune.

I posted my home as "make me move" on zillow and have had one guy email me an offer already. I turned him down. If you are interested, here is the listing -

New Years Day - Flooring - Arizona

My life has moved from "fast-forward" to "spin cycle" and here is what has been going on ...

We finally finished Nick's bathroom, after how many years? Nick took down the 1980's full width mirror, painted and put up a new mirror and towel racks. Here are the pictures;

Starting point - long mirror and old light box screams 1980
Nick put sticky carpet runner on the mirror and tried to break it on the wall. It didn't work and we had to call his friends to help take it off the wall and break it up.

Wall repaired and primered
Wall and light box painted to match
Finished product - it looks so nice!
Next we had a neighborhood party on new year's day then I booked it up to the hill house to get the floor repaired. The initial installation of the floor was so bad that it took 3 months to complete. So I was pretty pessimistic about the quote I got for 1 to 2 days. Well guess what? The guy showed up and turned into the "floor whisperer" and was on his knees feeling the planks and looking at them from ground level. He would tap some and say this is crowned, or this is cupped or this is really straight. Then he removed each one and stacked them in neat rows and he and his helper put back the good ones, replaced the bad ones and were done in 3 hours! Bam! I went out to spray the weeds and came back to something almost finished... needless to say I was "floored" and extremely happy.
From there I raced home in my rental mini-van to get loaded up to move Nick to Tucson. Yes he has moved out... still trying to get a grip on that. We broke up the drive into 2 days because of my back, but I have to say, the town and country I drove was so comfortable it was a little crazy.
The desert is beautiful but man is it dry! Here are some pictures from the trip, not many because it was a drive down, unload, buy stuff, drive back trip....

This is one full mini-van!
Nick at Nidito's Restaurant - It was sooooo good!
Casey in the hotel

Desert mountains from the van window.
We did eat at 2 restaurants that were featured on the travel channel show "Man vs. Food". A hamburger place called Lindy's on 4th that was really great... especially when Nick's nose starting bleeding everywhere. And at Nidito's a mexican restaurant that has been there since the 1950's is a not-so-nice part of town. The restaurant served Prez Clinton in 1999 and is always packed... the food is so good it is not right! Seriously, the wait was 45 mins on a sunday night,  and we were beaten down and exhausted but man it was worth it.

I am going to put my Moraga house on the market in February. I have to do a few more things to get it finished but it is almost there. I have people already asking to see it and my realtor is pushing to get it on the market, but I have such a busy life right now, it just will have to wait a bit. When it is listed, I will post the listing here... maybe someone reading this would like to live in Moraga? Email me... :)
