I thought I would try and give you a perspective of what the drought has done to my property.
Here is the front yard from January through the end of August..
January after I mowed it
May - so many flowers!
July - Before mowing
And the oak trees are starting to go dormant now as well. Depending on the species they are shedding their leaves and dropping their acorns already. This usually happens in early October so we are really early this year. By going dormant now, they are giving themselves a chance to survive until the rain comes again.
There are some plants though that are surviving even without the sprinklers or other irrigation. These guys are survivors for sure and some are California natives while others are from the Mediterranean.
