In June 2009 I bought a foreclosure property on 5 acres in the small, gold country town of Mokelumne Hill, CA. Since then I have done a lot of things to the house and the yard trying to figure out a way to live there permanently. The town's main street is almost the same as it was in the mid-1800's and the Hotel Leger was featured on "Hotel Impossible". The people are mostly bay area refugees and very welcoming. They all love this little town and I am beginning to see why..
Today is my birthday and who wouldn't want to spend their birthday painting a deck railing at the crack of dawn? As you saw in the last post, I have taken the peeling deck and sanded it down.
Then I went and painted the areas with primer to see if that would help at all.
I went to Lowe's yesterday, which is one of my favorite stores, and had them match the color for me using a Valspar paint. This paint is called "Duramax" and the guy said that people come in and rave about it all the time to him. It isn't cheap, but it isn't expensive either and frankly I just wanted something that would work and stay on longer than 2 years!
Paint I am using - Duramax
After spending a few hours painting two coats, this is what it looks like now.. I really like it and hope that when it finally starts raining again it will hold up.
